The US ambassador accredited to Haiti has expressed his opposition to the creation of a new Electoral Evaluation commission.

Peter Mulrean explains that two dangers are to fear in the establishment of a new commission; First, it could delay the holding of the second round; then this new commission could be exploited by malicious individuals.

According to the US diplomat, technical recommendations that were made by the Independent Electoral Commission assessment should be implemented to continue the electoral process initiated in 2015.

Mulrean also noted that there is no good reason for a new agreement

He said that the United States does not support the idea of a new agreement to the extent that the need does not call for it and the elements of the agreement of 5 February are still valid.

Peter Mulrean looked forward to the implementation of the document signed by the executive and parliament then.
