In a partnership between the Haitian Government and the World Bank, is the construction of a 205.000 square feet hospital in Mirebalais. This University Hospital is equipped with 300 inpatient beds, 6 modern operating rooms, 30 outpatients consulting rooms and a space to accommodate 140 students and resident physicians. The University Hospital of Mirebalais has the capacity to receive 500 people per day and is one of the largest in the entire Caribbean. The hospital is equipped with 1,800 solar panels, making it the only energy independent hospital in Haiti, and the largest in the Americas! The cost of this project is U$17 million, and has recently opened in January of 2013.
