The Regional Development Council (CRD) Monday proposed to President Danilo Medina several infrastructure works for the development of the country, which highlights the construction of an international railway.

The international railroad would cross the northeast, passing through the ports of Haina, Caucedo, Cibao Central and the province of Puerto Plata, ending its journey in Haiti, resulting in great benefits for the country's trade, according to Iscrates Peña, director general of the CRD, organism made up of different Cibao organizations.

They also proposed the construction of a national northeast railroad in the Dominican Republic, with a connection between the northeast and north-east of the north, which would use the existing rail routes of the old railways that operated in the Cibao and the southern region of the country.

They also proposed the construction of a multiple aerodrome in the northeast, to be built in San Francisco de Macorís for the use of the productive forces and structures of the Duarte, Hermanas Mirabal and Sánchez Ramírez provinces.

The commission that met Monday with the president, ensures that these proposals have socio-economic studies of place, feasibility and that would guarantee the return on investment.

Some of the projects could be financed and supported by the private sector, while others, due to their size, would need the support of the State.
