President Moise met with Pope Francis during official Italian tour

The Pope received the President of the Republic of Haiti, Mr. Jovenel Moïse, who subsequently met Paul Richard Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States.

"We were pleased by the good relations between the Holy See and Haiti. The common desire to strengthen collaboration to tackle various social problems, especially those relating to youth, to the poor and to the most vulnerable, highlighting the significant contribution that the Church offers to the country in the fields of education and health and of charity." A note from the Vatican reads.

In the continuation of the conversation, reference was made to some issues of national and regional interest, focusing, in particular, on the "persistent problem of emigration and on the importance of dialogue to promote social cohesion and the common good ".

The president's family was present at the meeting with the Pope Francis, and spent another 20 minutes of private interviews with a French interpreter between the Pope and the president who brought a beautiful work of art depicting a landscape of Haiti. Pope Francis gave him a medallion depicting a desert that blooms. "A message for you" he said.
