Haitian President Jovenel Moise, accompanied with the First Lady, Martine Moise, on Tuesday was one of eight heads of States who arrived at the International Airport Marisca Sucre in Quito, Ecuador, to assist the investiture ceremony of Ecuadorian President-elect Lenin Moreno on Wednesday, May 24th, 2017.

This visit of Jovenel Moise to Ecuador is his first foreign trip since he was sworn in as President of Haiti last February 7th.

President Moise was received by the Ecuadorian Minister of Foreign Affairs Guillaume Long at the tarmac, then briefly addressed the other dignitaries present and the media.

The President's choice of Ecuador for his first foreign trip, signals the growing bilateral relationship between Haiti and Ecuador, since the two countries have began cooperating military.  Haiti has sought the help of Ecuador to train many men and women that would be part of the reconstituted Haitian army, following the complete withdrawal of the United Nations peacekeepers in October 2017.
