The new Israeli Ambassador in Haiti, Daniel Saban, officially took office yesterday by presenting his credentials to the head of state Jocelerme Privert.
The diplomat pledged to intensify technical cooperation with Haiti in the agricultural sector. The expertise of the Jewish state in this field is recognized. The Haitian head of state himself had made the request to the Israeli diplomat.
He also pledged to continue cooperation in other areas with Haiti. Cooperation in the health sector should increase from the current project in Cap Haitian.
Arrived in the country a few days after Hurricane Matthew, Israeli diplomat expressed the solidarity of his government to Haitians facing disasters in recent years. As was the case after the 2010 earthquake, Israel will support the Haitian people in their difficult times, he assured.
The diplomat praised the resilience of the Haitian people comparable to that of the Jews. "We are two peoples who have suffered a lot but who always raise their heads to go ahead", he added.
In regard to the conflict in the middle east, Mr. Saban has assured that the government and the Israeli people will make every effort to reach a peace agreement and a healthy coexistence with the Arabs and the Palestinians. "We rely on support from the Government and people of Haiti in the effort to achieve peace." he concluded.
