Sunday the tensions between the border communities of Haiti and the Dominican Republic have skyrocketed after a Dominican truck driver was hit by a stone thrown by a Haitian protester, causing the driver to loose control of the huge truck and killing a young girl who was passing by.
Many witnesses have stated that the driver was arrested by the Haitian Police, and that he was refused medical care for his injuries on the Haitian side of the border. In response to this unfortunate situation, Dominicans have blocked the main highway leading to the Bi national market in Dajabon, the protesters say that they will not rest until the release of the Dominican driver.

On Sunday the Dominican Vice consul for Ouanaminthe has organized an unrgent meetings with drivers of both nationalities to address the issues.
