Haitian Women soccer team warmly welcomed back home by the President and thousands others after historic World Cup qualification

The Haitian Female Soccer Team Under-20 received a warm welcomed upon their arrival at the Toussaint Louverture International Airport, in Port-au-Prince on Monday, following their historic qualification in Trinidad last Thursday, at the World Cup 2018 which will take place in France, after defeating Canada 1-0.


Thousands of fans and admirers proudly waving the Haitian flag, showed up at the airport where President 
Jovenel Moïse, accompanied by the Prime Minister, Dr. Jack Guy Lafontant was waiting for them.

The President said he wanted, on behalf of all Haitians, to express his pride in the feat of young Grenadières who, once again, floated the national bicolor flag in foreign land. With this qualification, Haiti will make its first appearance at this great U-20 world championship and its third participation in a football World Cup (1974, 2007, 2018).

"The hope of this country lies in the youths," reminded the president in his remarks before inviting everyone to remember the need for support to help these young people to progress: "These young people need us, elders, to move forward. So I welcome our young female heroes who have just showcased their talents and the pride of Haiti in front of the world ."
