The Haitian government have announced that the borders between Haiti and the Dominican Republic will be closed during the upcoming election day, starting August 8th from 6:00 PM local time and all day Sunday. Activities will resume to normal Monday August 10th.  The closing of the border between the two nations sharing the island of Hispaniola is one of the numerous security measures, implemented by the Haitian government to assure the smooth running of the massive legislative election that will take place.
