Haiti welcomes Facebook, Google, Uber and others at Fist Tech Summit

Haitian President Jovenel Moïse, accompanied by the First Lady, Martine Moïse, on Tuesday, June 6, at the Royal Decameron Hotel, kicked off the official opening of the summit on technology "Haiti Tech Summit ", which is held until June 7th.

In front of a panel of Haitian and foreign guests, organizing members, about 100 speakers representing heavy weights such as Google, Facebook, Uber and Airbnb Haitians from the diaspora, entrepreneurs from various backgrounds, including government officials, the Minister of Tourism, Mrs. Émilie Jessy C. Ménos, and Specialists in technology, President Moise recalled the reasons why he wanted to participate in "Haiti Tech Summit".

"First of all, to give the momentum, but above all, to tell you that I am counting heavily on the results of your work, your commitment and the mobilization of all goodwill interested in helping the country to recover, "Said the President of the Republic.

President Jovenel Moïse believes that technology can help Haiti's development. "My administration wants to get the country out of the vicious circle of the informal and the small resourcefulness for survival.The objectives are clear.We engage the battle of modernization of the economy by giving priority to the development of four (4) Sectors, strategic pillars: agriculture, energy, construction: buildings and public works, and services in particular tourism, " said President Moise.

While welcoming the spirit of collaboration, innovation and optimism that characterizes the Summit on Technology,

"Haiti Tech Summit", the President of the Republic insisted on the need for Haiti to become an example of transformation of the economy by the digital. He believes that technology can not be the prerogative of a few; It must be within the reach of all, without exclusion, by targeted investments.

The Head of State also announced the continuation of an initiative of the previous government, to launch the new incubator center for technological innovation. This incubator will be equipped with a rapid laboratory prototype. Its mandate will be to foster an environment conducive to the creation of start-ups, which will showcase technology for commercial purposes.

Following the opening of the "Haiti Tech Summit" Summit, the President of the Republic, His Excellency Jovenel Moïse, met with the organizers on various programs related to technology and sustainable development in Haiti.
