The provisional president, Jocelerme Privert, left the country on Friday, December 2, 2016, in the direction of Santiago (Cuba), to attend the official funeral of former President Fidel Castro Ruz, scheduled for Sunday, December 4, 2016.

Fidel Castro Ruz, the famous leader of the Cuban revolution, overthrew the dictatorial regime of General Fulgencio Batista, died at the age of 90, in Havana, Cuba, on Friday, November 25, 2016.

In this context, the national flag is lowered at half-mast on Friday 2, Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 December 2016, as a sign of solidarity with the Cuban people, according to a presidential press release dated Thursday, December 1, 2016.

This decision follows a "decree" of Prime Minister Enex Jean-Charles, approved by President Privert, who will return to the country on Monday 5 December 2016.

Born on August 13, 1926 in Biran, in the province of Holguín, Cuba, after the Cuban revolution, Fidel Castro escaped more than 600 assassination attempts, according to Cuban secret services.
