Haitian President Jocelerme Privert could meet his Dominican counterpart, Danilo Medina, on the sidelines of a gathering of Diaspora organizations. As part of the week of the Diaspora the head of state should go to Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic, Sunday, April 17, 2016.
The Dominican Head of State Danilo Medina, was also invited to lunch at the Dominican Haitian friendship gathering.
Lunch of friendship will be held this year in Santiago where violence episodes were recorded against Haitians in 2015.
The top leaders of the island are called to send signals of friendliness, tolerance and harmony to our two peoples, said a member of the organizing committee.
The Zile Foundation of the former Minister Edwin Parison is also involved in coordinating the event.
Besides violence between Haitians and Dominicans, relations between the two countries were damaged by the deportations of Haitian nationals and descendants of Haitians.
Moreover Dominican authorities denounced the restrictions on imports of more than 23 products imposed by the Haitian government.
This file could be addressed by the two heads of state. Earlier this week President Privert had not supported a lifting of restrictions.
