The Ministry of the Interior and Territorial Communities said in a statement that the two vessels flying the Dutch flag, "The Pelikaan" and "Holland" and the Colombian boat "ARC 7 Argusto", made available to the Haitian government, completed a first phase of their humanitarian supply mission to the Great South coasts.
From 17 to 26 October 2016, the three ships and their crew, with the support of the Haitian technical staff on board, have fueled local structures, including Petit-Trou de Nippes, Grand Boucan, the Basses, Coral, Jeremiah Apricots , Clisan, Bonbon, Dame Marie, Anse-d'Hainault, the Irishman, Small Cahouane, Tiburon, Nan Sable, Jean Jacques and Tapion. Places like Fond Tortue, Cunnonbois, Grand Boucan, Paraclete Poban, Nan Georges were also served from helicopters in the fleet.
These structures and others were supplied, according to the needs assessment established by local authorities and members of the civil protection committees and also depending on availability. These distributions are made in strict respect for the dignity of families.
Nearly 370,000 kg of humanitarian aid, consisting mainly tarpaulins, food, water and medicines were delivered in areas affected by the hurricane.
The Ministry of the Interior took the opportunity to clarify that the Government will continue supplying the local structures by sea and air to stable demand.
