Santo Domingo
.-The president of the Dominican republic's Central Electoral Board (JCE)  Roberto Rosario Marquez, has confirmed today that the Dominican Republic will send electoral observers to Haiti to help overseeing the October 9th presidential election, as requested by the Haitian government.

This emerges from a report presented at today's gathering with the plenary of the entity on the meeting held on Thursday September 15 with the Haitian ambassador to the Dominican Republic, Idalbert Pierre-Jean, and two of his directors, where the diplomat showed strong interest in the JCE to send a delegation for that objective.

The director of the Dominican Republic's electoral body doesn't view sending such a mission to Haiti as a problem, contrary to what many ultra-nationalist dominicans believe. He recalled that Haiti sent a delegation to observe the presidential, municipal and congressional elections held last May 15.
