A Dominican lawyer who was returning from neighboring Haiti, was arrested at Customs border point with $ 400,000 in cash and 29 packets of white powder that authorities believe is cocaine.

The detainee was identified by police as Rafael Bello Santiago Cuevas, 62, resident in the municipality of Duvergé, in the Independencia province, who was traveling in a Honda SUV, White, plate L233838. The accused is transferred to the general military compound Juan Pablo Duarte while the investigation continues. 

 The information provided to the Dominican news paper Listin Diario, states that his arrest occurred Saturday afternoon, the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD) and Customs inspectors  proceeded to inspect the vehicle, in the presence of the suspect's Attorney José Adriano Rosario, where they found a stash of 29 packages of white powder, which were wrapped in black plastic bags of color.

 The vehicle was taken to the parking lot of the courthouse in the town of the arrest, where a stash of 41 packages containing $ 20 bills wrapped in transparent plastic cover, each containing US $ 10,000.00 package, making a total of US $ 400,000.00, were discovered.
