Haitian Police arrested 3 people, including an American, who were trying to smuggle guns into Haiti

Haitian National Police (PNH) on Wednesday, arrested three individuals in the northern city of Port-de-Paix, among them an American citizen, who were caught trying to smuggle into Haiti an important shipment of guns.

During the arrest two vehicles, ammunition, machetes, cell phones and fake identification cards  were seized.  

It was not confirmed whether the weapons came from the United States.

An Arkansas man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for sexually abusing children while working as a missionary in Haiti.

A U.S. Department of Justice news release says 36-year-old Daniel Pye was sentenced Wednesday. He was convicted in November of three counts of traveling in foreign commerce with the purpose of engaging in illicit sexual conduct with a minor.
