At least 19 people died in the evening of Wednesday, April 8, 2015, in the sinking of a small boat in the area of "Bac Bridge" between the common Borgne and Port Margot in the north of Haiti.

The small boat which was carrying 50 people trying to reach the small island of the Turks and Caicos illegally, according to survivors, hit a reef before sinking.

Twelve people who survived the sinking were rescued by fishermen and other members of the population. The research was ongoing throughout the day in order to find other survivors.
