Haitian Prime Minister Jack Guy Lafontant on Friday welcomed Brazilian ministers Ricardo Barros from Ministry of Health and Aislar Terra from Social Affairs who visit the country to sign a health agreement with the Haitian government that will finance the Caribbean country with $ 20 million.

A statement from the prime minister's office says doctors from Cuba will be in charge of the health program, through an agreement between the three countries.

Since establishing relations in 1998, Cuba has been one of the few countries leading exemplary medical work in some of the most remote and impoverished part of Haiti, during some of the most difficult times; such as the 2010 earthquake and following hurricane Matthew last October.

Lafontant on behalf of the Haitians thanked Brazil for the donation for the execution of the program and affirmed that the nation is a "great friend" of the Haitian people. "We are very grateful for Brazil's cooperation in Haiti, this donation will help us improve the health system and also offer better services." This agreement with Brazil and Cuba is very important and we will work very hard for the people who have so many needs, "said the head of Cabinet.

The information said that the Brazilian ministers will participate this Friday in the inauguration of a hospital in the Bon Repos area, about ten kilometers north of the capital. This hospital was built with funding from Brazil.
