105 prisoners release as part of special operation to empty out prisons

The prosecutor of Port-au-Prince announces the release of 105 prisoners as part of "Operation Empty-out prison."

An operation that will have no influence on the insecurity explains the government's deputy commissioner,   Mirlande Dupiche Prévost, who states that the releases were people incarcerated for years who were guilty of minor offenses.

The civil prison of Port-au-Prince currently contains 4046 prisoners, one in Petionville has 311 women, including 19 minors, noted Mirlande Dupiche Prevost.

A situation according to the spokesperson, that led the new government commissioner and his team to set up the operation in the fight against prolonged preventive detention.

The prosecutor is satisfied on the balance sheet of their work for 18 days.
